I have tried all the of the vegan cheese sauces I’ve seen on you tube and they were all so gross!
I have finally perfected this recipe! I don’t like nutritional yeast so and the other recipes had so much that I hated it. My recipe has some but it’s not overwhelming.
You’ll love this low fat vegan cheese sauce on potato fries, homemade oil free tortilla chips, broccoli, basically everything!
I found that this recipe was better when I made it in my high speed blender. It works way better than the basic one I used to have. I got this BlendTec on amazon. It’s just as good as a Vitamix but less than half the price. Click this link to check it out!
If you are nut free or want this recipe totally fat free you can replace the cashews with white beans in equal ratio.
Cheese Sauce
Equipment
- High Speed Blender
Ingredients
- 3 cups potatoes peeled and chopped
- 1/2 cup carrot chopped
- 1/2 cup cashews soaked overnight
- 3 TBS nutritional yeast
- 1 TBS garlic powder
- 1 TBS onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 2 cups hot water from potatoes and carrots
- 1 TBS lemon juice
Instructions
- boil carrots and potatoes until soft - save the water
- add all ingredients to blender
- blend until smooth
- enjoy!
